ALBERT LEA – An NIT reader described an accident early this afternoon that happened near Albert Lea.

Photo submitted by NIT reader at the scene in Albert Lea where a truck burst into flames Wednesday afternoon.

“A semi-truck with trailer in the northbound lane at about 1:30 PM had a blow out or some type of problem with a wheel and lost control of his rig,” the man said today at 2:30 PM.

The accident took place on Intersate 35 and Minnesota Highway 46 interchange, near the large truck stop in Albert Lea.

“The truck hit a guard rail and he managed to get past the bridge. There was a big ball of fire and the flames spread pretty quickly.”

No further details, nor the condition of the truck driver, were available.
