A Cerro Gordo County Sheriff arrested a wanted Mason City man at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Mason City shortly before 3pm on Wednesday. Magistrate Ronald J. Wagenaar had issued a warrant for the arrest of 38-year-old Stanley Rae Jackson Jr following a criminal complaint alleging he seriously assaulted a woman on Tuesday.
Jackson was transported to Cerro Gordo County Jail and held on one count of serious domestic abuse assault. Jackson was released Thursday afternoon after a no contact order was issued and a public defender appointed to him. A preliminary hearing has been set for May 18th at 8:30 am.
Court records show Jackson is currently awaiting court in Hancock County in two other criminal cases. A trial date has not been set following a continuance in a 2nd offense domestic abuse assault that allegedly occurred on January 7th, 2012.
In addition to the other domestic assault cases a plea change hearing has been set for May 8th for a 2nd offense OWI and driving while barred charge in relation to an arrest by Britt Police Department on May 28th, 2011.
Court records show Jackson has been previously convicted in Cerro Gordo County of domestic abuse assault with intent or display of weapons on April 15, 2010.
A separate charge of domestic abuse assault causing bodily injury was dismissed on application to the courts on January 28th, 2011.
It is unclear at this time rather the Cerro Gordo County Attorney’s office will upgrade the charge in light of his previous domestic abuse assault conviction and pending cases as allotted by Iowa law.

HE HAS HAD CONTACT WITH THE OTHER VICTIM ON A NO CONTACT ORDER NUMEROUS TIMES. SHE COMES TO HIS APT. TO SEE HIM THEY MEET AT THE MALL TOO. HIS NEIGHBORS HAVE TOLD ME THIS AND I PERSONALLY HAVE SEEN HER CAR PARKED AT HIS APT.
