MASON CITY – Shortly before 5pm Monday, May 7th, a Mason City police officer was dispatched to check on the welfare of four kids who were left inside a vehicle outside a Fareway.

The officer made contact with the parent identified as 21-year-old Douglas Wayne Krueger of 221 5th Street North East in Mason City. Krueger was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail at 7:30pm Monday evening on one aggravated misdemeanor count of child endangerment.

Krueger’s application for court appointed council was approved Tuesday morning at an initial appearance Tuesday morning before he was released from jail pending a preliminary hearing set for May 25th at 8:30am.

The incident report indicates there will be a DHS referral in addition to the criminal charge.

  1. What are the ages of the kids though? If there was an older one in the car with little ones then that should be ok. If they were all little shame on him

      1. What goes around comes around. He once said he would never have involvement with child services. Now look at him. I blame the mother. Guess she never told her children that you don’t leave your babies in the car alone. Plus his mommy is a real piece of work also I know her she’s something else.
