NIACC drops DCTC twice

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The NIACC baseball team completed the season sweep of Dakota County Technical College by scores of 7-1 and 7-4.

The wins moved NIACC to 32-9 this season and 4-0 against Dakota County this year.

Max Waletich (Fr., Fairmont, MN) had four hits in the doubleheader and three RBI in game one.  Nick Tillo (So., Sioux City, IA) also recorded four hits.

NIACC jumped out to a 6-0 lead in game one before losing the shutout.  Connor Krommenhoek (So., Sioux City, IA), Michael Bohl (So., Mason City, IA) and Kyle Moses (So., Saint Ansgar, IA) combined to allow only three hits.  Krommenhoek received his first win of the season in the game.

NIACC had 12 game one hits, with Tyler Peterson (So., Eden Prairie, MN), Tillo and Waletich each recording two.  Outside of Waletich’s RBIs, Peterson added two RBI.

The Trojans again led 6-0 in game two, but Dakota County scored three in the bottom of the sixth.  Each team scored one in the seventh.

Tanner Unkel (Fr., Cedar Rapids, IA) had a great game on the base path with five steals.  Waletich and Unkel both had two hits.  Tillo and Nate Olin (So., Galesburg, IL) each had two RBI.  Drew Verstegen (Fr., Mason City, IA)(4-0) received the game two win.

The Trojans will be at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington for a four-game series this weekend.
