Baseball: NIACC wins two, goes 11-0 during spring trip

VERO BEACH, Fla. – NIACC completed a perfect 11-0 trip to Florida by dropping the Ontario Blue Jays 7-2 and edging Riverland Community College (MN) 1-0 on Saturday.

The Trojans, now 13-2, never trailed in either game.  Jeremy Cronk (Fr., North Liberty, IA) struck out six Blue Jays and walked only one.  Nate Pilacinski (So., Gaylord, MN), Tyler Peterson (So., Eden Prairie, MN), and Drew Verstegan (Fr., Mason City, IA) all had two of NIACC’s 10 hits, while Verstegan and Jose Perez (Fr., Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) both had two RBI.

Tim Black (Fr., Mount Hope, Ontario, Canada) got the win against Riverland while recording four strikeouts.  NIACC scored the lone run of the game during the fifth-inning.

NIACC will return to Mason City to host Riverland in a doubleheader on Wednesday.  Game one will begin at 1 p.m. at Roosevelt Field.
