NIACC baseball splits with Lewis and Clark

GODFREY, Ill. – The NIACC baseball team earned another split on Sunday with 9-0 and 1-3 decisions against Lewis and Clark Community College.

The Trojans (2-2) had 15 hits in game one’s 9-0 win with six players recording two hits. Jose Perez (Fr., Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) and Tanner Unkel (Fr., Cedar Rapids, IA)both recorded two RBI in the game, while pitchers Lukas Bakker (Fr., Brisbane Australia) and Ean McNeal (Fr., Cedar Rapids, IA) combined to give up four hits.

NIACC couldn’t get points on the board in a 1-3 game two loss.  NIACC had five hits, but did not force any walks in the game.  Pitchers Joey Reed (Fr., Lindstrom, MN) and Lee Gealow (Fr., Mason City, IA) combined for seven strikeouts, but LCCC scored three in the opening innings.   Ryan Voves’ (Fr., Mason City, IA) triple was NIACC’s only extra base hit.

NIACC and LCCC were originally supposed to play a three game series, but weather on Friday forced the teams to cancel the third game and move the doubleheader back one day to Sunday.

NIACC will go down to Vero Beach, Florida for 12 games next week during spring break.
