NIACC men win at Madison Area TC, 77-73.

MADISON, Wis. – NIACC’s men’s basketball team rallied behind a 24 point performance by freshman Darius Wilson (Dowagiac, MI) to beat Madison Area Technical College, 77-73.

The win moves the Trojans to 5-7 so far this season. The Trojans forced 25 turnovers, and outscored the Wolfpack in the paint, 38-18.

Wilson recorded five three-pointers in the contest, while Kendale Dunn (So., Cleveland, OH) had a good performance in the paint with 16 points. Nathan Brandt (Fr., Burlington, WI) and Chris Davis (Fr., Colorado Springs, CO) both had 11 points in the effort.

The Trojans took 16 more shots than the Wolfpack in the game (79-63), but Madison got to the foul line more often, and shot 17-23 there to stay in the game. NIACC only shot 4-13 from the foul line.

Madison couldn’t add to their 42-36 halftime lead. Center Garrett Borgrud scored 22 points and forward Tyler Kowalkowski scored 20 for the Wolfpack. Borgrud fouled out late, and Madison’s offense struggled after his departure.

NIACC will host Riverland Community College on Wednesday as part of a men’s-women’s doubleheader. The women will start at 5 p.m., and the men will start around 7 p.m.
