“MOVING FORWARD WITH OUR MASON CITY SCHOOLS” CONSTRUCTION UPDATES ñ WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW!
Phase 1 ñ Blazek Electric
ï Labeling and installation of some panel covers remain. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.
ï Punchlist meeting being coordinated.
Phase 2 ñ Holland Contracting
ï Project nearing completion. Punchlist is scheduled for August 3rd.
ï Working on control devices for mechanical and electrical equipment.
ï Some exterior work remains as well as final cleaning.
ï Water is shut down to both JAMS and High School for new water service. It will be down for approximately 48 hours.
Phase 3A ñ Larson Contracting
ï Masonry walls in kitchen are progressing.
ï HS Dining area is ongoing. Room will be unfinished when school begins. Life safety measures will be installed in the next two weeks.
ï Structural steel is being set at the connecting corridor between JAMS and High School Dining areas. Next area will be JAMS dining area.
ï Paving removal will begin near the tennis courts. NOTE: There will be limited vehicle access to the High School if you are coming from road behind JAMS gymnasium. Work will be completed before school starts.
Phase 3B ñ Henkel Construction
ï Interior demolition is progressing at the 2nd level.
ï New crawl space plumbing has started. New plumbing starts at boiler room and runs to the North end of JAMS. This affects the locker rooms, pool and alternative school. These areas will not have water for approximately 2 weeks.
JAMS 8 (Annex)- Henkel Construction
ï The modular classroom installation crew will be done next week. Owner inspection for the 6 classroom unit occurred on Friday, July 29 and will occur the week of August 1st for the 10 classroom unit.
ï Henkel is building exterior entry decks and canopies. Work is progressing well.
ï Water and sewer service is being connected to existing utilities. Electrical service is also being installed.
