The underbelly and a fact by Max Weaver

First off, aren’t we thankful that we live in a country that lets us speak our minds, whether it is fact or fiction?

The blogs under my last article have strayed somewhat. NorthIowaToday.com would appreciate some of my input, so we all don’t go down that slippery slope other local news organizations have with their blogs.

So to that point, some of you are obviously not ready for the underbelly of the goings-on in your City Hall. Yet, you love to watch reality TV. I thought a good mix of underbelly enlightenment would be good along with a sampling of the gobbledygook your elected officials and press feed you daily. On the other hand, some of you love getting your news from the Daily Report or Saturday Night Live. Go figure.

My last article also asked you for thoughts on the budget and goal setting sessions that are on the horizon. “It’s your money.” Not one of you posted a thought or suggestion. Go figure.

I can only assume some of you have been used by the underbelly to spread rumor or innuendoes (The Dirty Tricks Squad) about Mr. Weaver and Mr. Lee. There is no way that I and Mr. Lee could be all of these things that you have blogged about.

The underbelly and Dirty Tricks Squad have been in our democracy from day one. Aren’t we thankful we live in a country that lets us speak in different tongues?

FACT: Not at any time did I get caught snooping or sneaking around Mayor Bookmeyer’s office, OK? If my word is not good enough for you, please call 421-2701 and ask for City Administrator Brent Trout. He runs the building. Or, City Attorney Tom Meyer, he runs the legal department.

Thank you. Blog away.
