MASON CITY – The Mason City Park Board has approved fee changes for the 2013 golf season.
Highland Park – 2013 Fees:
Class A from $440 to $450
Class B from $400 to $410
Class F from $840 to $855
All other rates and fees remain the same for 2013 as in 2012.
The motion passed the board vote unanimously.
We should also charge an entry fee for every park in the city. Afterall, they should be self supporting. Right?
Oh, that’s different.
I guess you do not realize that the other parks can be used for many different activities year round. The golf course provides a service if people do not want to pay for that service then it should be closed or sold. I am a golfer and if this course closed it would not mean very much because there is many course’s in the area that would be just as good of an option.
If you go somewhere else to play golf, and everyone else who plays at Highland goes ‘somewhere else’ there also goes all the revenue to some other town, county and residents. Sounds good to me. I will benefit from that.
I’ll agree to that. If you want to use the shelter houses, a fee wouldn’t be out of line. An honor (or free will donation) for the tennis courts would help defray the costs. But for just showing up and taking a walk, or a blanket picnic; I would say no.
Fees should be raised so they cover all operating cost of the golf course. If the course can not be self supporting then it should be sold or closed.
Well at the same time we could sell East Park, West Park, Tennis Courts, Ball Diamond and others throught the city, then fire the entire staff that maintans all our great parks and really cut taxes. I am so confused how people in this community can be so stupid, they only want to support what they use and the hell with the city as a whole. Advise for you, IF YOU DON’T LIKE THIS CITY MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!
Now that’s a ridiculous statement. If you don’t like the city you live then MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE! There is no need for this garbage ideology that everyone with an apposing idea should just move. That somehow it’s not acceptable to change, and you need to just leave if you don’t like it.
