Elaine Louise Bly, 72, died on Thursday May 2, 2024 at her home in Clear Lake, Iowa. After many years of health struggles the Lord said come on home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, May 13, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N Delaware Ave, Mason City, Iowa. Burial will be held in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive Adel, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE Mason City, Iowa.
Elaine was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa and raised on a farm near Fonda, Iowa. She graduated Valedictorian from Fonda High School and went on to get a BSN from University of Iowa, Iowa City. She worked several years as a Lab Technician in Independence, Missouri before she met her husband, Gerald Dennis Bly. They moved to Hovland, Minnesota where they lived for 32 years and worked hard and raised their three children. Once she retired they moved back to Iowa to be closer to their grandchildren and Elaine’s family. Elaine loved her family with everything she had. She loved The Lord and always tried to follow the path she believed He had laid out for her. She was a wonderful wife and amazing mother. She was so proud of her grandkids and would brag about them to anyone that would listen. She will be sorely missed but we KNOW we will be with her again someday with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.
Those left to cherish memories of Elaine are her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Bly; her children, David Bly, Samuel Bly, Sarah (Billy) Alden, and daughter in-law Sarah Bly; grandchildren, Josiah Bly, Jeremiah Bly, Elizabeth Bly, Arianna Bly, Grace Alden, and Abigail Alden, siblings, Bruce (Colleen) Schoon, Karen Swartz, Steven (Rhonda) Schoon, and Craig (Sheree) Schoon; siblings in-law, Jay (Kay) Bly and Sharon Evans.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolf and Lois Schoon, parents in-law; Arthur and Jean Bly; brothers in-law, Terry Swartz and Larry Evans; sister in-law, Karen Schoon and daughter, baby girl Esther.
