WEBSTER CITY, IOWA – An Iowa man who was charged in Hardin and Hamilton counties with sex crimes against children has been sentenced to decades behind bars.
Willie Clay Werner, age 66, of Blairsburg, Iowa was charged in 2014 by the Eldora Police Department with one count of felony second degree sexual abuse and one count of indecent contact with a child. Both crimes are alleged to have occurred on July 19, 2014. Werner was picked up in Hardin county on September 12, 2014 and jailed. He then posted bond and was released from jail as he awaited court appearances.
Court records show that in June of 2015, the Hardin county charges were dismissed and consolidated into a case that arose in Hamilton county in 2014. This case included 5 counts of second-degree sexual abuse, one count of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of indecent contact with a child.
In May of 2016, the charge of third-degree sexual abuse connected to an alleged crime in 2011 in Hamilton county was dismissed by jury acquittal.
However, according to court records, Werner still faced five counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of indecent contact with a child in Hamilton county. This was in connection to crimes in July of 2014.
Today, sources disclosed to NIT that Werner was found guilty by a jury on all 5 charges of second-degree sexual abuse and the charge of indecent contact with a child. NIT was told he had a total of 3 victims. Werner was sentenced to a total of 60 years in prison for these crimes. He is being held now in the Hamilton county jail, awaiting transport to prison.
