MASON CITY – A lawsuit filed against the City of Mason City by a former city employee that won no damages for the plaintiff was denied a review by the Iowa Supreme Court.
In 2013, a jury awarded former city employee Ann Butcher zero damages in a lawsuit against the city of Mason City. She had been seeking about $150,000 plus attorney’s fees.
Numerous witnesses, including high-ranking city employees, were called to testify in the case.
Butcher had claimed discrimination from city officials in getting passed over for job promotions.
In July, the Supreme Court denied further review of Butcher v. City of Mason City.
about time the city help the purse strings closed shut tight. in the past anyone filing a lawsuit was simply paid. don’t think so?? go back and look at Raemaker case, Gansen case, and etc. could go on and on
Just who are the “high ranking” city employees, and who’s side were they on.. From what I know of the situation, she should have won…
Guess you think you know more than the Supreme Court. You must not know much
She did win. . . the jury just awarded 0$ in damages. RTA
