MASON CITY – Cerro Gordo County Republicans had some dire words for America in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling last week that legalized same-sex marriage.
In a statement to the press, the Cerro Gordo County Republican Party said that as “religious liberty” is “taken away”, “our society and country will begin to spiral downward.”
“God is the supreme ruler on marriage,” said GOP Chairwoman Barbara Hovland. “Love and sex are two different things.”
Mrs. Hovland also announced Sunday that the Cerro Gordo GOP Summer BBQ will be on Monday, July 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Clear Lake Yacht Club in Clear Lake. Guest speakers will be Texas Governor Rick Perry and Mark Everson. Ticket prices are $30 general admission and $100 VIP admission.
She also said Senator Lindsay Graham of South Carolina will be stopping in Mason City on July 1 at The Music Man Square at 7 p.m. This event is free to the public.
Mrs. Hovland said now is a time for prayer in America.
“Let us all pray for our nation, our country and our people and Lord Father we ask for strength to be able to stand firm in our faith and our beliefs.”
This whole thing is nothing but a organized attack on religion. They will not be satisfied until they have destroyed religion. I personally am not very religious but I do respect people’s right to believe what they want. No one has the right to tell people what to believe in their religion. Only Muslims should be told what to do but that is a cult, not a religion.

The downward spiral has been going on long before 6/26/15. It started a faster spiral in 2008 and it’s only getting worse. Gay people had nothing to do with it.
In my opinion the downward spiral started with both parties after JFK was killed. I am not too sure about this guy but with the problems in the parties I am almost thinking trump might be the best guy because he is not a politician.
