DECORAH – A Postville, Iowa man suspected of recently robbing a bank in the tiny community of Calmar, Iowa and caught in Illinois will now face federal charges.
Tyrone Wilson, age 48, was apprehended without incident in Rock Island, Illinois the day after he allegedly robbed the bank on May 12. On that day, there was a robbery at the Security State Bank in Calmar, Iowa. The robber – suspected to be Wilson – got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.
Iowa law enforcement said today that Tyrone Wilson has been indicted on federal robbery charges and has been transferred into the custody of federal agents. Wilson will make an initial appearance today in Federal Court in Linn County. As a result of the federal charges, the previously filed state charges will be dismissed. Wilson will remain incarcerated in the Linn County Jail on the federal charges.
