Drug bust in Spencer sends two to jail

marijuanaSPENCER – An arrest warrant check on a Spencer, Iowa, male led to a search warrant and drug arrests of two Spencer males.

At approximately 7:42 AM on Friday, May 1, 2015, a Clay County Deputy conducted an arrest warrant check on Brady Salberg, age 23, of 418 2nd Ave. East in Spencer for the original charge of theft in the 5th degree, a Simple Misdemeanor. Upon making contact with Salberg, the Deputy smelled an odor of marijuana in the residence. Salberg was placed under arrest on the arrest warrant and was transported to the Clay County Jail without incident. A search warrant application was made and granted for the residence.

At approximately 10:39 AM, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department in executing the search warrant at his home, where marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found. Wesley Bertrand, age 20, of the same address, was placed under arrest and was transported to the Clay County Jail without incident.

Bertrand was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor and Salberg was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor, and possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana), a Serious Misdemeanor. Salberg was held on a $1,300.00 cash or surety bond.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
