IOWA CITY – Three members of the University of Iowa wrestling team have been arrested on various charges ranging from possessing alcohol under the legal age to drunken driving and interference with official acts.
The three arrested individuals are all freshmen: Seth Gross (possession of alcohol under the legal age, interference with official acts), Ross Lembeck (possession of alcohol under the legal age, operating while intoxicated), and Logan Ryan (possession of alcohol under the legal age). They could face additional charges after several burglary reports were taken by Marion, Iowa police in connection with these arrests, which occurred after 1 AM on March 18.
The University of Iowa Athletic Department said all three wrestlers have been suspended indefinitely.
“I am extremely disappointed with the decision-making of these three young men. I am currently gathering the facts and will use the UI’s student code of conduct and our team rules as my starting points to address the situation,” UI wrestling coach Tom Brands said in a prepared statement.
I wouldn’t want to disappoint Tom Brands. Get ready for a hell week of workouts on top of the legal actions taken.
They never seem to learn.
