MASON CITY – A Felon staying at a hotel where police are frequently called was making too much noise early Saturday before cops took him to jail on a warrant.
Police were called to Americas Best Value Inn, 24 5th Street SW, on January 31 at about 5:00 AM for a loud noise complaint. Upon arrival, police knocked on the door of a second-floor room to question an individual inside, 28-year-old Ryan Bennett Peak. It was discovered that Peak, a convicted felon for burglarizing cars, was wanted on a warrant.
Peak was arrested, booked and jailed before he was released later that day.
There was an article in the Glob about this place when the new owners took over. They claimed they were going to clean the place up and do background checks on long term renters. Apparently they gave up on that practice because the crime continues there. The place should be shut down as a nuisance property.
I would say shut that pit down, but, at least the police know where to go look for someone they want.
