Trial for alleged drunk driver who injured children is postponed

MASON CITY – A woman who was allegedly driving drunk earlier this year and then crashed her car, injuring five people, has had her trial postponed.

Robin Jenks, age 40, is charged with four felonies and other misdemeanors after a single-vehicle accident which took place on April 27, 2013 at approximately 7:41 PM. Jenks was driving a 1994 Honda Accord south bound on Partridge Ave. when she lost control of the vehicle. Margaret Brown 30, Kyla Williams 8, Jaylan Brown 5, and Tristan Jenks 14 months all of Sheffield, IA were all passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident. All occupants sustained injuries as a result of the accident and were transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Jaylan Brown was later air lifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

Jenks, who has plead not guilty, was to stand trial on October 22nd but the trial was postponed last week. She now faces a plea hearing on November 25th.

Margaret Brown, age 30, was also charged with two child endangerment felonies stemming from the incident.  Records show that she would face a trial by minutes this month.
