MASON CITY – Twenty-five films have been selected and events have been planned, and the 7th Annual Iowa Independent Film Festival is poised to take place on October 25, 26, and 27 at the Historic Park Inn hotel.
Special Events include the Friday evening rough-cut preview of Garner, Iowa, shot last summer in North Iowa and featuring Tanna Frederick and, also, the Awards Gala on Saturday night with food and live music.
This year’s special guests are 90 year-old Ralph Senensky who started out in Mason City and went on to become a successful director of numerous TV shows including Dr. Kildare, Gunsmoke, and Route 66, and Marlyn Mason who co-starred with Elvis Presley in The Trouble With Girls.
Mason produced and is featured in the short feature, The Right Regrets, which Senensky directed and which will be shown at the festival. She’ll also be talking about Elvis and their “relationship”, and Senensky will talk about Mason City and Hollywood.
The $25 Festival Pass provides access to all films and events, and can be purchased through the website or at the Historic Park Inn hotel or the CoffeeCat in Mason City. Day passes will be available at the festival for $10.
