MASON CITY – All businesses that hold a liquor license are asked to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, July 1, 3pm at the North Iowa Regional Commerce Center, 9 North Federal Avenue, Mason City.
Information will be given regarding law enforcement and alcohol requirements regarding RAGBRAI on July 23. There will be a question and answer forum as well.
The meeting will be hosted by the Mason City Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa Division of Alcoholic Beverages.
Why did Ragbrai come here? It is sooo much fun every where else. Mason City just cannot help themselves. It is NO fun, and never will be with the PD and council we have.
Leave adults alone, they can take care of themselves. They dont in anyway need government.
…as long as you have a captive audience here, you might remind them all that according to Iowa law it is illegal to smoke within 50 feet of an entrance or exit of their establishments…not even when putting out a cigarette at the door…nope, just can’t do it! This law also covers the Park Inn!
I have seen the smokers outside the HPI… no shortage of them!
There is no prohibition about smoking on the public sidewalk outside of any establishment.

At what distance from an entrance is outside smoking allowed?
Provided that you are not on the grounds of a school/educational facility or near the entrance to a publically-owned building (i.e., owned by the state, county, or city), then the law does not specify a distance that smoking is or is not allowed from the entrances to buildings.
…while you have them in a captive audience, so to speak, you might remind “all” of them that Iowa law states there will be no smoking allowed within 50 feet of an entrance or exit from their establishments…including the Park Inn!
