MASON CITY – A pair of young North Iowa women were arrested at Kohl’s Department Store late last week for shoplifting.
Mason City Police were called to Kohl’s, 556 Indianhead Drive in Mason City, on March 20at about 5:40 PM for a theft report. Two subjects were arrested and charged with 3rd degree theft: Brianna Dean Taft, age 19 of Klemme, and Hailey Marie Aukes, age 20 of Garner, were taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail, booked and released.
Both women have court hearings next month.
In January of this year, Taft was given a deferred judgement on a drunk driving offense and 1 year of probation.
Aukes, speaking via social media, said she made a mistake that she regrets.
“I know very stupid, put myself in a horrible situation and … learned my lesson,” she said. “Was not worth it, and the food sucks so stay out of jail! I dont ever plan on eating a cheese sandwich again!”

I have been to the jail numerous times ( on the outside of the bars looking in) and last time it was roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots and apple pie. Now tell me who wouldn’t want to go to jail!!

There’s many people that go without food in this country and even in Mason City. Especially children. Sometimes the meal they get at school is their only meal of the day. This gal is in jail, she doesn’t deserve to complain!
Stop complaining about the food, I’ll bet that people in jail/prison, eat better then a lot of other people. Don’t like the food, don’t go there.
I’ve never had the food offered out at the complex (might be a fun field trip) but I know one way that always makes food taste better- Go without for a while.

@ Tons I feel bad if you was arrested, should not of been. But if that picture is you then you don’t need no cheese sandwich. Make your self drink lot’s of water eat celery and apple’s that kind of foods. I bet you need to lose a good 100 lbs nobody should have your kind of obestity.

WE have nothing but rich black earth for growing TONS of food. If people go without, it’s because politics dictated as such. There should be no cheese in that sandwich, they should all just get bread and water take it or leave it.
