NEW YORK – Three police personnel died in a terror blast in Daih while police were dispersing rioters, the Bahrain Interior Ministry reported.
Witnesses reported hearing a blast during clashes between anti-government protesters and police who were firing tear gas and birdshot to disperse them, the BBC reported.
UN Secretary Genery Ban Ki-Moon immediately condemned the attack in a statement issued by his spokesperson.
“Such acts of violence cannot be justified by any cause,” said the statement.
“The Secretary-General strongly believes that a genuine and all-inclusive political dialogue is the only way forward,” it added. “He urges all Bahrainis to come together to create a conducive environment for promoting reconciliation.”
