DES MOINES – Iowa gubernatorial candidate Jack Hatch fired a salvo across the bow of the Terry Branstad campaign Tuesday, pointing to a poll released Tuesday that said Branstad “continues to have approval numbers that aren’t terribly impressive.”

“We should never put too much stock in a single poll,” Senator Hatch said, “but this morning’s poll reflects something I have been hearing all over the state: Governor Branstad has simply been in office too long and as a result Iowa is just coasting. We can do better.”

The poll said, however, that Branstad is likely to be re-elected, as he leads Hatch 48-36, a 12-point spread he enjoyed since last July.

Public Policy Polling asked 869 Iowans a series of questions, one of them “Do you approve or disapprove of Governor Terry Branstad’s job performance?”

72% said they approve.

Having met Jack Hatch, he seems like a very ‘real’ person. I think he’ll be a good governor who will help us to regain our best students status as well as make Iowa a very prosperous place.

@Mediator-B.S. the democrats almost broke the state when Culver was in and they would do it again if they get the chance. You can not believe a thing a Democrat tells you. Look at the Supreme Leader Osama Obama and his bunch of thugs if you don’t believe that. The Republicans are just a little better but are the lessor of two evils by far.

I disagree, strongly.

I just love the way you brand all Democrats as liars, idiots and socialists. Have you ever met a Democrat who didn’t fall into those categories you so liberally throw out whenever you disagree with something? Have you ever tried to contact the Governor? I have several times. I am still waiting for just one reply to my requests or questions. He doesn’t care about the common person in this state. He cares about how he can continue to subsidize and coddle his corporate friends. Maybe found that out with Common Core. Terry just changed the name so that he could take credit for it. If you dig deep enough into the Core, you will find that there is a lot of money to be made. And guess who will be making that money? Not you or me. It will just cost us (the average taxpayer) more and line the pockets of the already rich and prosperous.

I like the way Branstad has done his job except for 1 thing. He stated once that he was against common core but talking to someone on here they said he was for it. I did some checking and he has changed his position and is not for it. I sent him an email stating that if he is for common core I would not vote for him and I think more people need to do the same.

I mean now Branstad is NOW FOR common core.

If this guy were in office the same length as Branstad, then it would be OK.

Just what Iowa doesn’t need is a idiot like this Obama wantabe ruining our state like Osama Obama has the country. Don’t forget “If you want to keep your insurance you can. You just can not believe a Democrat.
