Steve King votes to defund Obamacare

Steve King, in Mason City

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve King released the following statement after voting in favor of H. J. Res 59, the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2014, which includes the text of the Full Faith and Credit Act as well as a provision that fully defunds Obamacare. The bill provides necessary appropriations for all government operations with the exception of those funds necessary to implement Obamacare. The House passed this bill by a vote of 230-189.

“The American people understand the hypocrisy and injustice of the individual mandate as well as the disastrous effect the law will have on our healthcare system,” said King. “Currently, 57% of Americans oppose Obamacare. With this vote today, the House took a strong stand against Obamacare by passing a bill that would fund the entire government except for the new entitlements and onerous mandates contained within Obamacare. I offered this very same amendment in February of 2011, and I am glad that it was finally adopted by the House today. The largest chunk of Obamacare is set to take effect on October 1, and so now is the time to make this stand.

The courts failed to correct the massive overstep made by the Obama Administration and the Democrat majority, so now it is up to Congress to prevent further damage. It is time to restore the doctor-patient relationship, create more opportunities for American workers, and remove the burden this law has created. It is now in the hands of Harry Reid and Senate Democrats to do what the American people are asking for – defunding Obamacare. The House has acted on a bill that will prevent a government shutdown and I will not stop this fight until all Americans are free from the bondage of this law.”

Steve King spent over $3,500 of tax payers money in 6 days on a trip to Russia. Anyone of you King lovers think this is a little outrageous?

That’s funny, 3500 to Russia when we are having some problems with the Russian president yet you say nothing about the 100,000,000 Obama spent on a vacation to Africa.

Experts say that obamacare is a disaster yet people still want it. Makes me wonder if the brainwashing thing back in the 60’s wasn’t true.

wonder what all the nay sayers will say when the ACA succeeds? Somehow they will all be saying “oh ya…I was for it all along. It will be funded and it will be implemented. Again the right wingers aren’t afraid it will fail. They are afraid it will succeed.

Just will that “success” look like since you are so sure of it?

Obama care sucks do away with it

How do you know it “sucks” as it has not been implemented yet? Read the law — don’t listen to what people say. We now have the ability to decide, with our doctors, what care we should receive. The insurance companies and the government are out of it. And we know there are no such thing as a “death panel” anywhere in the law.

Boy do you have a big suprise coming next month.

Keep slugging away at Obamacare Steve. It is the only way this administration is going to pay attention to anything we here in flyover country say or think.
His administration is a travesty to this country – he has no rational plan to rein in spending, rather he says borrowing (or I should say printing money) is not putting us further into debt. Just how stupid does he think we are?

If the ACA is going to be a total debacle Republicans would let it take effect, ride the catastrophe to huge victories, come back, and then use

“If the ACA is going to be a total debacle Republicans would let it take effect, ride the catastrophe to huge victories, come back, and then use their congressional majorities to repeal it. But they don’t want to do that because the GOP’s fear isn’t that the law will fail, it’s that the law will succeed.”

This is exactly how Stevie and his right wing extremist congressional pals think. If it was called Romneycare or Reagancare they would love it.

In one week, the republican led House of Representatives has voted to take away food assistance to Americans who need help (half are children), and the chance to get health insurance from Americans who would normally be turned down by insurance companies. What happened to the GOP that used to get stuff done? What happened to the GOP that built the interstate highway system and the Hoover Dam? Their solution now is: If you lose the war, win the argument. The republican party has become the party of failure, and our representative has become one of their main mouthpieces. Instead of doing the job they were elected to do, they would rather shut it down and blame the black guy.

you are so right John. Over 170,000 unemployed veterans will lose their food stamps if the House Republican had their way.

He has a solution on this one. Defund Obamacare.

not a solution lvs. He is just adding to the problem. There are parts of the ACA that are very good. Lets keep those and build on it not scrape the whole thing. That is what he should do if he thinks its so bad. That is what he is paid for. But he is one that has spent years in the house without ever contributing a thing to the people of Iowa or the US except some very stupid and racist comments.

The problem with that is we know that there are good parts and bad parts. The republicans are willing to go through it and save the good but Obama says no, it’s all the way it is or shut the government down. He is willing to work with the Russians on Syria but not willing to work with the republicans on obamacare.

@????-I too think there are parts of Obamacare that are good and would like to see them kept. The problem as I see it is the Democrats refuse to discuss it so the only option is to try to kill the whole thing. I seriously doubt that they will accomplish that this time. I really don’t know what they think they can gain. One side is going to come out looking pretty stupid if they give in and even if they don’t. I think it is a no win for both sides and is somewhat a waste of time and resources.

how about fixing what he thinks is broke with ACA or replace it with something better. Again all he does is bitch. He never has any solutions. He is a wasted seat in the house.

Thanks Steve King! End this trainwreck called Obamacare.
The only people who support it & vote for it are those exempt from it.

Wish we had more in congress like King

Defund a defunct government ???
