Bookmeyer recommends Mason City businessman for Human Rights Commission

MASON CITY – Mayor Eric Bookmeyer is recommending that the Mason City Council approve a local businessman to the Mason City Human Rights Commission.

Mark C. Stanton, 61, owner of Boxes Unlimited, applied as a volunteer to the board.  Bookmeyer is asking the council to make the approval at Tuesday’s council meeting.

Stanton wrote on his application that he wants “to help my city get passed this change,” presumably referring to the dramatic budget cut imposed by Bookmeyer and the Council upon the Human Rights agency.

Bookmeyer was asked by the commission – and declined – to appoint Dan Ramaeker to the commission.  Ramaeker was recently appointed as a “friend” to the commission.

Stanton would fill a vacancy left by Cameron Sarjeant.  The term for the position expires in 2015.

Let’s see? How will he rule when it’s someone working at his place of business – OH I forgot the king always appoints CZARS ! GEEEEEZ THEY WORK WELL FOR owebammma !

that statement also goes for the worst president ever. george w bush.

Stanton would be a good choice. He is a very fair person, good thinker and gets along with people. Have known him for thirty years and think he would be a great addition.

Mark,

The best thing you could do as a member of the Human Rights Commission is tell our Goofy Mayor to leave the commission alone and re-instate it’s funding. Lionell is a valuable asset.

A Friend of Yours

It sure looks to me like the mayor wants to be sure whoever is on the commission is in his pocket. I find it hard to believe that some of the friends of the commission are not qualified to serve on the commission.
