Boone Man Arrested in Kansas City at Conclusion of DCI Death Investigation

Boone, IOWA — After a year-long investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Boone Police Department, 39 year old Alexander Joseph Fazzino has been arrested and charged with Murder in the First Degree, a Class A Felony.  Fazzino is accused of killing his wife, 32 year old Emily Fazzino.

On January 29, 2012 at approximately 8:00 PM, the Boone Police Department received a 911 call from Alexander Fazzino, who indicated his wife was attempting to kill herself.  Upon arrival at the Fazzino residence at 1210 South View Court in Boone, police located Emily Fazzino in the bathroom.  She was lying on the floor, cold to the touch and unresponsive.  Officers also observed Emily had bruising on her neck and forehead.  All attempts by officers to revive Emily were unsuccessful.

An autopsy conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office revealed Emily’s remains had no sign of drug abuse or a drug overdose.  The autopsy also identified several areas of trauma, including the neck and throat, as well as the sides and front of Emily’s head.  Additionally, a forensic pathology expert reviewed the autopsy findings to conclude that Emily died of asphyxia due to neck compressions and/or drowning.

Warrant, Complaint & Affidavit

Fazzino was arrested yesterday, April 7, 2013, at the Dick’s Sporting Goods parking lot by the Lee’s Summit Police Department in Independence, Missouri.  He was booked on an Iowa warrant, into the Lee’s Summit Police Department jail, where he currently remains.  Fazzino is being held on 1.5 million dollars bond.

It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Really people!! The mafia!! Unless you know them keep your mouth shut!!

Im in Boone almost every week. And I know a person that worked for the family. So you shut up. BITCH.

Maybe they needed to get more to tie him to the crime. Maybe they finally got someone to wear a wire and he blabbed. They got something that finally put the icing on the case.

Katie, with all due respect, he called 911 stating his wife was “attemting to kill her self.” Upon their arrival she was cold. Do you really think that she attemted to choak herself and drown herself at the same time? This isn’t CSI here, simple police work.

Well, it IS CSI in that they were missing something important that they didn’t have until now. His lawyer probably wouldn’t let them question him or something. I don’t think it’s fair to second-guess them without all the facts. When you know the LEO’s screw up in a case like a deputy did in another one here in NI, then you can go crazy on them.

When I first heard about this day, my first thought was, whith these autopsy reports done right away, why did it take them over a year to do an arrest warrent? There is something wrong with how this case was handled in my opinion.

whatever the reason for waiting as long as they did is for the DCI to know. I do know that people who knew the family thought this right away. fighting before she died. then leaving with the kids.

Her parents are big in the Fareway foods chain. Rumor has it he was affiliated with the mafia.
