Ex-WNBA player Chamique Holdsclaw indicted

ATLANTA, Feb. 28 (UPI) — Former women’s basketball star Chamique Holdsclaw has been charged in Georgia with assaulting WNBA player Jennifer Lacy.

Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said a grand jury in Atlanta handed up an indictment Wednesday charging Holdsclaw with aggravated assault, criminal damage and a weapons charge, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Lacy, who said she was Holdsclaw’s ex-girlfriend, told police in November that Holdsclaw approached her at a church where she was exercising. She said Holdsclaw followed her as she drove away, and then, when she reached a friend’s house, used a baseball bat to smash the windows of her RangeRover and fired a shot into the vehicle.

Holdsclaw was arrested and spent two nights in jail before making bail.

Lacy is currently with the Tulsa Shock. Holdsclaw played 12 seasons in the WNBA after a stellar career at Tennessee. The two women played together on the Atlanta Dream in 2009.
