FAYETTE COUNTY – A woman fleeing a Northern Iowa mental health facility attacked and injured a deputy in her unsuccessful attempt at freedom.
On May 25, 2024, at approximately 9:17pm, Fayette County Deputies responded to an assault at Inspiring Lives, a “private, non-profit organization providing an array of mental health services.”
When Deputies arrived, a female suspect took off running, was apprehended, and a physical altercation took place. During this incident, a deputy was assaulted causing injury.
The defendant was identified as Monica Mecedes Davis (pictured at top), age 30 of Waterloo.
Davis was charged with:
– Two counts of Assault (Simple Misdemeanor)
– Interference with Official Acts with intent to inflict serious injury (Felony D)
– Assault on a Peace Officer with intent to inflict serious injury (Felony D).
Davis was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail where she awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge.
