MASON CITY – Mason City police brought no charges against a male Clear Lake Chriropractor after an investigation into alleged naughty touches of children in his care.
NIT and other area news outlets recently reported that Nicholas McColley, D.C., is a chiropractor practicing in Clear Lake, Iowa. The Iowa Chiropractic Board received a complaint that McColley, on multiple different occasions, touched the genital area of a child male patient during an appointment from on or about July 2016 through February 2018. Further, it was alleged that there are multiple victims with similar allegations.
As a result of the allegations in January of 2020, the board ordered that McColley “shall not treat or provide services to any patients unless directly supervised by another person within his office” as an investigation was conducted by the board and also, the Mason City police department, as “the local police conflicted themselves out of the matter”.
In a settlement, McColley was placed on probation by the board for three years under certain conditions, including continuing education, must provide any services in the presence of a monitor. McColley also was ordered to pay $300 to the board every quarter included with a report attesting to his compliance to the board’s order.
A Mason City police spokesman told NIT that their department did conduct an investigation into these allegations against McColley.
“The investigation was referred to MCPD by Clear Lake PD due to a conflict of interest on December 27, 2019,” the spokesman told NIT. “Our investigation wrapped up on March 9, 2020. We have closed our investigation. There will not be criminal charges at this time.”
NIT asked the spokesman if the alleged child victims were interviewed.
“I don’t have any specifics on the investigation that I can share at this time,” the spokesman said. “The matter is closed and there will be no criminal charges.”
It appears McColley remains open for business in Clear Lake.
If no charges were sought, i.e. he did nothing wrong, why is he on probation for 3 years, must provide any services in the presence of a moniter, and pay $300 to the board every quarter with a report of compliance to the board’s order? And who was the MCPD spokesman who excreted this pile of feces. Though, coming from the MCPD, it doesn’t surprise me.
Sounds like a pattern of allegations has been established, how did this guy not get charged. Also “naughty touches” no it would be “inappropriate touches” that are illegal.
Nutcases was what he was touching on the boys.
So the state board is treating a man who won’t be charged as if he’s a proven criminal. Sigh. This is Iowa, land of nutcases.
