Staff assault reported at Anamosa State Penitentiary

ANAMOSA – A Correctional Captain was assaulted by an inmate at the Anamosa State Penitentiary today at 8:53 a.m.

The captain was working in a unit when an inmate approached him from behind and struck him multiple times with a pointed piece of aluminum. Additional staff that were in the area came to the captain’s aide immediately, and were able to assist in restraining the inmate. In the process of responding to the incident, a counselor also received injury when she was kicked in the ankle.

The captain that was assaulted was taken to the local hospital to be seen for his injuries, and has since been released to return to duty. The counselor was also taken to the hospital to be seen for her injury. The inmate was reviewed by facility medical staff and found to have not suffered any major injuries.

This incident remains under investigation.

This sounds like the inmate might have been unhappy about something. Hmmm. Maybe the inmate needs some mentoring by Dustin Honken. Oh, wait…never mind.

Home of the criminally deranged, weirdos, and odd sorts. It a shame so many people are in these jails. People step outta line the man come take you away was a song lyric. Dated a prison guard. She was real good with a stick. So, this so called captain got jumped. By the tin man. A real guard of people with a stick in hand would win. Unless your Chuck Norris or Doc Savage.
