Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank adjusting distribution of food hours during May

MASON CITY – The Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank will be adjusting their distribution of food hours during May.

They will be open for clients to pick up prebagged food on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 1-4 pm in May.

Those same afternoons from 3-4 p.m. bread, sweets, produce and eggs will also be made available.

Hawkeye  Harvest Food Bank will be closed during May on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

With food being prebagged for distribution, the local food bank has been able to accommodate people much faster and they feel certain the three days will allow Hawkeye  Harvest Food Bank to easily serve anyone needing food.

Hawkeye  Harvest Food Bank hours of operation for the month of June will be determined near the end of May.

“We have found that out prebagged food distribution system is allowing for the continued safety of our clients and volunteers” noted food bank volunteer Ozzie Ohl.

“We want to also say thank you to everyone who has shared their time, talents and treasures during these challenging times and hope we can see a new normal in the near future” added Ohl.

These losers won’t get a job because 1) they know the govt. is going to pay for their housing 2) they know the govt. is going to pay for their food stamps 3) they know the govt. is going to pay for their medical care 4) they know the food bank is going to give them all the free food they want because they are LOSERS!!!

I hope that you have an accident or come down with a debilitating illness. What would you do then. I have pah and have worked and payed taxes since I was 14 years old. Now i can only work around 15 hrs a week. I cant get disability until I get more procedures done. I do not receive any assistance besides medicaid. Wich may i remind you that we are 1 out of two countries in the world that doesn’t have free healthcare. Most of the food is donated that would be otherwise thrown away or cant be sold for technical and legal reasons. Maybe would then appreciate getting to put something in your cupboard twice a month. Yes some take advantage of it but people do that with everything. Have a little mindfulness. Not everyone is as fortunate as you are. You dom’t know there story or what they have been through. Try volunteering sometime and talk to an injured war veteren who fought for your freedom. They are now disabled and living off of $800.00 a month. Look at the percentage of tax dollars that go to food assistance. Its a sliver on the pie graph. Ignorance and lack of empathy will slap you in the face with a dose of instant karma. It knock ya right on the head.
