Northern Iowa man jailed after shooting hole through apartment window

ESTHERVILLE, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man was jailed after police say he shot a hole through his apartment window.

On September 11, 2019 at 9:00 AM, officers with the Estherville Police Department were dispatched to 515 North 13th Street apartment #12 following a report that someone had shot a hole through the window of the apartment. Officers arrived and observed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the window located on the south side of the apartment. Officers secured the scene and started the evacuation of the other residents in the apartment complex.

Officers were able to contact the suspect in apartment #12, he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was identified as 54-year-old Darron Pearson of Estherville. Pearson was placed under arrest and was charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm an Aggravated Misdemeanor and Discharging a Weapon within City Limits a Simple Misdemeanor. As a result of the investigation, Estherville Police located a loaded 9 mm handgun inside the apartment.

Pearson was transported to the Emmet County Jail and appeared in front of a Magistrate. Pearson was released later that on a $2000 unsecured signature bond.
