NIACC men’s golf competes in Illinois

KEWANEE, Ill. – The NIACC men’s golf team shot a 326 at the Kewanee Dunes Classic on Friday.

NIACC was led by freshman Austin Eckenrod, who shot an 80.
Also for the Trojans, Zach Martin shot an 82, Matthew Heinemann shot an 82, Jackson Hamlin shot an 82 and Ben Boerjan shot an 83.

NIACC’s John Patterson played as an individual and shot an 89.

“I felt like the guys played much better than they scored overall,” NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. “It just shows that you have to battle through all 18 holes and keep the mental foucs.

“We’ll continue to improve each outing. On these courses have a lot of holes that you needed to know where to miss and we didn’t have that course knowledge.”

NIACC shot a 324 at the Carl Sandburg Classic on Thursday.

NIACC hosts the NIACC Invitational on Sept. 10 at the Mason City Country Club.

“We’ll get in a good week of practice next week and get after it at home on Sept. 10,” Frenz said.
