DES MOINES – Tax refunds for Iowans will likely be delayed again this year, a state official says.
According to the Des Moines Register, Iowa Department of Revenue Director Courtney Kay-Decker told Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds that fraud prevention efforts will slow down the processing of refunds in 2018. The Iowa Department of Revenue currently warns, “Due to the dramatic increase in tax refund fraud, IDR has strengthened its fraud detection tools. Receiving your tax refund now takes longer than it did in previous years.”
Refunds were delayed in 2017 due to the fraud prevention efforts and, as the Register discovered, a lack of cash in state coffers.

Currently, the Iowa Department of Revenue is being sued by employees for allowing “a work environment ‘fraught with harassment and abuse.'”

It is a good thing the state is taking extra precautions!
Iowa is broke. Do you really believe the delays are all of a sudden about fraud or the State does not have access to monies to pay the refunds?
They found and had to correct 17 million dollars worth of fraud. All by Democrats trying to cheat the system. What do you think about that?
