Director of Human Resources position created in Iowa Legislature to handle possible sexual harassment claims

Iowa capitol

DES MOINES – In the wake of a $1.75 million settlement for sexual harassment claims from an Iowa Republican caucus staffer, the state is looking to fill the position of Director of Human Resources at the capitol.

Earlier this summer, Kirsten Anderson, a former Iowa Senate Republican caucus staffer, was awarded $2.2 million (later reduced to $1.75 million) to compensate for alleged harassment she endured within that organization. Reportedly, Governor Kim Reynolds approved the use of general fund dollars to cover the “obligation”.

Following that debacle, on October 20, a job listing was posted on the state’s website for a position that would potentially deal with any new sexual harassment claims in the capitol:

The Director of Human Resources position serves as a human resources subject matter expert for the Iowa Legislature, the job listing says. The position requires broad knowledge of human resources principles, techniques, and trends, including applicable legal and administrative principles and strictures. The knowledge of government employment practices and principles is beneficial. A four-year college degree and experience equal to 6 years of full-time work in the area of human resources is preferred. Competitive professional salary based on experience.  Applications must be submitted by November 10, 2017.

Rep. Linda Upmeyer

Reportedly, Iowa House Speaker Linda Upmeyer of Clear Lake has said Republicans “will not tolerate any form of harassment. Period.”

It just seems wrong that we have to have someone police our elected representatives on morals. Put God back in and this will stop.

People have all sorts of injustices they suffer under and are never awarded these inordinately large sums of money. Most never get their day in court at all…except to answer to petty criminal charges designed to extort money from them and destroy their reputations. What woman would’t love to endure sexual harassment knowing she’ll get 1.75 million dollars when it’s all said and done? Man oh man the Justice / Legal system in America is so damn corrupt. Do we have any volcanoes waiting to erupt? A good extinction level event is needed ASAP.

Remember when Cerro Gordo county had a Dept. of Human Services and the chamber of corruption/ big business/crooked elected city/county officials abolished it ? Crooked is as CROOKED does. Scum bums as Jackie Gleason used to say. Of course that was when Miami FL. was the vacation capitol of the world – now its a pig sty like CAFO’s in Iowa.
