Water main flushing continues in Mason City

MASON CITY – The City of Mason City Water Supply Division will be flushing water mains in the southeast quadrant of town, all areas east of Federal Avenue and south of Highway 122.  The flushing started on Tuesday, April 3rd and will continue through Friday, April 13th.

Water customers may notice some discoloration of the water after the mains have been flushed, however, the water is safe to drink.  Caution should be used when washing clothing because discolored water may cause staining.

The public is asked not to park near or across from fire hydrants during this period of time.  If citizens have questions, please phone the Water Supply Division at 641/421-3685.

In Mid March I watched with a giggle as the City Street Sweeper was sweeping S. Pierce way out by the industrial Park. Picking up the sand I assume???? Then two or three weeks later I watched with a giggle again, as the mains in the S/W quadrant were being flushed. Yup you guessed it, the streets HAVE NOT YET been swept and all that SAND was flushed down the gutters and into the storm drains. O Well Job security I guess, because if you watched the city council meeting city staff are doing a great job. And its not like it just quit snowing and they haven’t had time to sweep the streets yet. Should the cart come before the Horse?????
