Mason City police seek details on stabbing incident

MASON CITY – Mason City police were called this afternoon to investigate a stabbing incident near downtown Mason City.

On May 30, 2017, at approximately 3:34 PM, Mason City Police and Fire were dispatched to 325 West State Street on a report of a male with stab wound to the chest. When officers arrived in the area, they found a 23-year-old white male had been stabbed. He was treated at the scene by officers and medics and transported to Mercy Hospital. His condition has not yet been determined.

The Mason City Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating the stabbing. Officers have talked to several witnesses at the scene and are conducting follow-up interviews. Police also towed a vehicle that may have been used by the suspect as he fled the scene.

Isn’t this the same place a man got his throat slit and died about 10 years ago.

Just a shame this had to happen in such a beautiful and family friendly neighborhood. Just dont understand this happening in this part of town.

Could be any neighborhood….your neighborhood is no better.

That whole area has deteriorated ever since they turned those fine old homes into HUD apartments. Nothing but trouble there now.
