MASON CITY – An arrest has been made in connection with a child sex abuse case that was reported to the Mason City Police Department earlier this year.
Tawny Marie Symonds, age 30 of Wells, Minnesota, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with sexual abuse in the second degree, a class B felony. She was also charged with class C felony assault and class D felony child endangerment.
These charges are a result of a joint Iowa Department of Human Services investigation with the Mason City Police Department that began in February of this year at a residence in Mason City, where Symonds operated an in-home daycare.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation also assisted in the investigation.
Police told NIT “The defendant’s day care was a licensed day care. The other children were interviewed. It does not appear that there are any additional victims at this time.”
Wow, this is so far from the story she told everyone at work for why her kids were taken! God bless the victim, and anyone that has to even look at her ever again. The truth comes out!
What exactly was the story if your comfortable sharing. I’ve known her through acquaintances and she never came off as someone capable of doing this…complete shock and disgust poor child.
She said her ex was selling drugs so they took their kids but that she was getting the kids back.
According to her public court documents online, her charges were for penetrating a child. I’m sick. This is not a case of “maybe she touched a kid.” She raped a 2 year old. I don’t think I can follow this case. God help these babies.

I don’t find your joke funny at all. I don’t know her/ her family personally but I know its not fair to crack jokes about ex’s and their children. They are still innocent in this all and I can only imagine the effect its having on them let alone the victim.
If it were one of my kids she wouldnt be in jail. What a pig.
