ELDORA, IOWA – A wanted man discovered he was going to jail but wouldn’t go quietly as he battled a Northern Iowa sheriff.
The incident took place Tuesday, December 13 in Eldora. Benjamin Jospeh Massengale, age 23 of Eldora was at his probation office and discovered he was wanted on arrest warrants in connection to theft and forgery charges. The Iowa Falls Times Citizen reports that Massengale was being arrested on the warrants by Sheriff Dave McDaniel in the sheriff’s office when he began to fight the sheriff. Eventually, Masssengale was brought under control and arrested.
As a result of the struggle, Massengale was charged with interference with official acts and assault on a peace officer causing bodily injury. He remains held in the Hardin county jail on $2,000 bond as he awaits a hearing on December 27.
