EAGLE GROVE, IOWA – Wright county, an area rich in hog confinements, appears to be the new destination for Prestage Foods and its massive slaughterhouse.

Multiple news outlets are reporting today that a press conference is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Wright county courthouse to make an official announcement about the $240 million pork processing development.

Mason City told Prestage Foods “no” back on May 3, and ever since, the company has been searching for a home for its mega plant. Rumors swirled in Worth and Franklin counties that one of them could land the plant; neither ended up winning the sweepstakes.

This morning the Wright County Board of Supervisors took initial steps for the development of Prestage Foods of Iowa’s new, state-of-the-art pork processing plant.

“Agriculture is important in Wright County and we welcome the more than 900 new jobs and $240 million investment to our county,” said Wright County Economic Development Director Bryce Davis. “We are excited to work with Prestage Foods of Iowa as they construct their first pork processing plant in Wright County.”

Supervisor Karl Helgevold was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to represent them during the project.

“The Prestage project will be a tremendous boost for the economy in Wright County and the surrounding areas,” explained Helgevold. “Our Economic Development Department has been working with local communities to enhance their housing resources and the timing for this project will fit well with those plans that are already moving forward.”

The Board of Supervisors will hold a Press Conference at 2:30pm today, Tuesday, July 5, at the Wright County courthouse to provide more information on the Prestage project.

Iowa has 63 million gallons of liquid manure from the pig confinements every year, where is all of this manure going – answer you are drinking it, cooking with it and bathing in it, because of the large animal confinements, a whole house water system is needed many people cannot afford this and many people are not aware synthetic chemicals/pesticides/fertilizers stay in the water unless you have a whole house “UV light system”, also needed to destroy bacteria, viruses, VOC’s/volitale organic compounds, you need a “whole house water filtration system”, like this one http://waterfilters.mercola.com/, explain how large animal confinements are bettering anyone’s life.

iowa worst water in the US. Just look at Florida soon coming to a lake or river near you. People are so ignorant when it comes to politics. Kansas and Louisiana are about broke controlled by republicans. Jindahl and Brownback should be tarred and feathered. Stock market was 8000 when bush 2 left office thanks to the black guy its 18000. When clinton left in 2000 we had a surplus. Bush 2 blew that on his buddies for tax breaks and then the dems have to come in and fix their f….k ups. If the repub control all three branchs of gov the people can kiss their ass goodbye.

Spurned? We seem to think it was an honorable choice !

Maybe Ricky and Dicky Mathis will seek their fortune down in Eagle Grove. At least we are far enough away the migrant laborers won’t make it to mason city.

DamnRacist.

I agree this person is a racist no wonder prestage call mason city a racist town with people saying things like this

There is nothing racist about not wanting a revolving door community with desperate exploited migrant temp workers flowing in and out by the thousands. Community is all about cohesion. Wanting that does not make you racist. Not wanting that makes you a bona fide imbecile.

Bull Shit. You are just a racist.

“Bull Shit. You are just a racist”

Thank you for eloquently proving my final point. Imbecile.

Karma’s gonna get you people. Murderers of animals become the animals they murder. Martha and Bill will become born as piglets in the very CAFOS they construct. Rich aristocratic fiends.

The plant wil be built in wright county and the cafos will be built in cerro gordo county and mason city as a pay back from prestage for turning them down and cerro gordo and mason city can not do one thing to prevent it from happening.

Even if that was to happen we’re far better of with the stench and ruined water from the CAFOs compared to the social problems Eagle Grove is going to get from the Death Palace itself.

But you are right that we all need to pursue tightened CAFO regulations. Writing representative Sharon Steckman is a good place to start. Its a bit sad, I’ve always considered myself pro-business and pro-ag, but this Saga has taught me that even in Iowa, everyone is in it for himself and even an Iowa Pig Farmer will screw his neighbor if that means more money in his pocket.

both mason city and wright county use the same source of ground water the jordan aquifer so if they ruin the ground water in wright it will get to us too

Their main company Electrolux MOVED TO MEXICO – so they are desperate for anything — GO TRUMP TRUMP !!

They are smarter than we are here.

you just found that out

Knew it a along.

you guys should move there! see ya!

Base consciousness is a choice, lacking understanding is a choice.

I’m happy for wright county I hope they can close the deal without all the drama and stupidity we witnessed in cerro gordo

Glad its not in Mason City

Good for them….Just glad its not here in Mason City

you are a jerk off punk ass bitch

LOL
Well thank you very much Mr. Intelligent…..now please move to Wright County

you won’t have to drive far for your perfect dream job Anonymous. Good luck to you. As far as I am concerned it is still too close to Mason City.
