There is only so much interest in a small town, of late I have had a few people approach me asking that I look into the county and its management style. I might do some comparable studies on that subject in the near future.
This city, Mason City, gives up a lot of dirt especially now that we have this mayor. Much of what he does is painful to watch, he seems to have a disdain for this city and the hoi poli living here. His actions have all indicated such, and they’re too numerous to list. In the short time he’s held the office he has lowered the moral in City Hall to new lows, has gone on witch hunts that led to nowhere, shifted duties around for suspected personal reasons, reasons that make no sense unless you look below the surface. Insiders tell me that there will be sweeping changes taking place at City Hall once the fourth vote can be obtained…and this has caused much dissection and unrest within the ranks of city employees. Alcohol has a way of unleashing the truth once enough of it has entered the blood steam, and it is on these occasions were copious amounts of alcohol has been consumed, that these plans come to the surface. Arrogance seems to be his strong suit, that along with public displays of drunkenness….and yet he has managed to put three council persons into a deep trance like state. Doesn’t really speak well of their IQ’s you’d think.
I mean just what can he promise these three…free rides on the bus maybe, what? There is no secret that the big push here is to unseat one of the three council persons who actually know how to manage this city. Why you ask; to get the fourth vote so they can ram the proposed multi-purpose center down your throat without a public referendum, no yes or no public vote…they are going to try and slide it through with black magic money structured like a house of cards…..and when it collapses like most house of cards do, you’re the ones who will be picking them all up. If you give this train wreck the fourth vote…watch out. It will spell the end of the HR department. If that happened I think I would want the mental health services to pick him up and put him someplace where he couldn’t cut himself on a beer can. At this point the best thing that could happen to this city is for some other hospital to offer his wife, the orthopedic surgeon a better job than she has here. I mean that’s how he got here isn’t it. I think so.
I really don’t want to dwell on the three who are in the ether, you see them when you attend council meetings…or when you watch the meeting on television like I do. All three of them watch every move the beer drinker makes, they sit on the edge of their seat just waiting to drink the kool-aid the moment he gives the signal. If it didn’t make you sick it could be a comedy, a real sitcom of our own. You who live in these respective wards, what were you thinking when you elected these people, were you all out to lunch that day? Turncoat…well that was a city wide vote, some mistakes are bigger than others, and that was one of them. Solberg’s main objective seems to be to sell insurance to this city and close the Hispanic church in her ward. Hickey….well he seems to struggle, hasn’t quite got it figured out what goes on in that big room and he got on the wrong bus the first day he arrived.
If the people who vote in this city give the beer drinker the fourth vote you will be aiding and abetting him and his cadre of friends who all dwell in that mystical state called delusion. You will have given him the ability to circumvent the procedure referred to as the democratic process where the public decides. That fourth vote at that council table means you will have no say, no vote, these social gad-abouts and wannabees will stick it to you so deep it will never come out. Find out the day and place you vote, call all your friends who are qualified to vote and go in a group and vote, it will be money in your pocket. Let me put it another way; giving the beer drinker another vote on the council would be the same as going away on vacation and leaving the front door of your house open.
All ready there are “committees” being formed, coffees being held, checks are being written and all of this is being done to gain that coveted fourth vote. There was a time I thought Hickey would wake up, maybe become excoriated by some priest, cleansed mentally…but I have come to the conclusion, regretfully I might add that what you see is what you get, it is what it is. If it ain’t under the skull now….chances are it never will be. Just say to yourself each day; “No fourth vote.”
