NORA SPRINGS, IOWA – A juicy situation is developing in the sleepy little town of Nora Springs – and city officials are preparing to act to prevent it from going too far.
A Minnesota man confirmed today that he is aiming to open what would be the area’s only “juice bar” – the Pole Barn Theatre. The business will be located at 14 North Hawkeye Avenue, the former location of Frosty Mugs bar.
Dale Peterson is from Clarkfield, Minnesota. “It’s just a little 4-hour drive away,” Mr. Peterson told NIT Thursday morning of his home. His plan is to open the Pole Barn Theatre right in downtown Nora Springs next week.
Mr. Peterson said today that he is working hard to get the business ready. Patrons will be able to see dancers in various stages of undress and can bring in beer or wine to sip on as they enjoy the show. He has a sign ready to go onto the front of the building, but it’s not installed yet.
“I’ll be there this weekend getting everything ready,” he said. A 7 PM opening is scheduled for Friday night next week. Patrons must be 18 years old to enter and 21 years old to drink.
Meanwhile, NIT phoned Deborah Gaul, City Administrator of Nora Springs. Ms. Gaul didn’t seem too thrilled to discuss the situation, but confirmed to NIT that tonight, a city zoning meeting will be held and adult businesses will be on the agenda.
“I can confirm that adult businesses will be discussed,” by city officials at that meeting, she said.
“No one has come in, no one has seen the place you are referring to,” she continued in a stern tone, as she was pressed to comment on the new juice bar coming to town.
Sources tell NIT the city will be moving to block the opening of the Pole Barn Theatre.
“That’s what everyone was saying last night,” a Nora Springs source told NIT Thursday morning. Mr. Peterson is trying to open up soon, “trying to beat the city from shutting them down.”
Mr. Peterson was surprised to hear that a zoning meeting was planned for this evening but said he was going ahead with plans to open.

These small towns around here all consist of a bunch of nothing… The whole can’t sell beer thing bums me out, how much for relaxation therapy until the juice flys.
Here’s the issue: Money as a tool of enslavement by older, wiser middle age men over young, impressionable, needy women. The girls will be there because they smell cash. The guys because they smell girls. I pose this simple question as a litmus to an action: Would girls be naked dancing under their own freewill IF they could receive an equivalent amount for NOT dancing? If the answer is NO, then economic coercion and slavery is at play, so the institution should be shut down. If YES, then it is a matter of freewill personal expression and it must be allowed to remain open.
One more way to enslave women.

Maybe this guy is involved with the man in Mason City who runs the naked cleaning business. Rumor has it, the man that heads up the naked cleaning business is a long time landlord in Mason City. The sleezy girls now have two options to take their clothes off for money. Sad.

Chances are I will never patronize this place but I don’t have any issues with it opening either. I think free enterprise will take care of itself if you don’t like it don’t spend your money here and it will close all on its own.
This guy is pure evil. There is a good reason every town he’s opened in or tried to open in did everything they could to block or get rid of him. He owns his girls. Literally. They pay off a debt to him. For rent, drugs, whatever. The girls get so high they typically don’t remember details from one night to the next. This isn’t just an exotic dancing juice bar. He’s used that cover in the past… and it goes way beyond drugs. The type of people to walk into an establishment like his are not people you want walking down your streets, trashed, in the early hours of the morning when he closes. Those in support should do some research.

Living there myself, what the draw to Nora Springs was, PEACEFUL, QUIET, surely won’t be anymore. Mason City, was bad enough, now that goes out the window.

Come on now. If your all uptight about the type of entertainment offered, DON’T GO. If the idea of sexuality is so threatening to you and your delicate sense of self – How the hell do you watch a simple commercial, or listen to the radio? Guess what in case you have not noticed the “booming” metropolis of Nora Springs isn’t exactly raking in cash these days. And what if you spouting off about church or your superior sense of right and wrong offends the hell outta me? Cause honey I can throw judgement with the best of them. Who are ANY of us to decide or declare that a legal business, should be banned? It’s ignorant and small minded. Or is it possibly these uptight ladies are afraid their husbands might frequent such an establishment? *just sayin’
Considering that GG’S Place, just opened across the street, and run by very respectable people, this will most likely bring down that business…And the council is not to keen on the whole thing, I highly doubt that it will survive. The guy who owns that building is from Charles City. Seems logical that it would do better there !
