MASON CITY – A drunk driver stopped his car in the middle of a busy Mason City road late Monday evening before a deputy took him to jail.

On Monday, July 12 at about 9:39 PM, a Cerro Gordo deputy was flagged down by a concerned citizen due to a vehicle sitting in the middle of the roadway near 12th Street NE and Pennsylvania Avenue. The deputy investigated, and arrested the driver, 61-year-old Jon Douglas Reed of Mason City. This fella looks like he knows his way around a bucket of chum.

Foster Brooks?

Im not trying to be funny or cruel but this dude in one ugly mutha f**ka. For sure he needs to be taken off the road. I can put this drunk on the gang if they send him down to visit me on the ranch.

Alcohol does that to you. I’m sure you could put him to work and dry him out. He looks to be legal, so take care of the illegal vermin first, and I don’t really care how you do it. If you ran for president, I would vote for you.

I worked with a guy like this once. He lived in Manly, and would come to Mason to drink. He would get so drunk he wouldn’t know where he was. He clipped off road signs, went through a ditch and into a farmers yard and smashed into machinery. He woke up one morning a block from my house after falling asleep in his car. A sheriffs deputy woke him up at 3 in the morning sleeping, while his car was in the center north bound lane of north Federal. He was let go, I’m assuming because he was related to the Sheriff. This was over 30 years ago. He is still alive, and luckily never killed anybody.
