MASON CITY – A man and a woman who were arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop south of Mason City have both pled not guilty and await jury trials.
Christopher Lee Evenson, age 31 with no permanent address, and Dawn Marie Porter, age 45 of Mason City, were stopped Sunday night at about 9:00 PM by a Cerro Gordo county deputy at 11901 2nd Street in Burchinal. After an investigation, the deputy discovered drugs in the car and placed both persons under arrest.
Porter was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of prescription drugs.
Evenson was charged with several drug crimes including possession with intent to deliver. He has been wanted by law enforcement since June for violating his parole related to felony burglary.
Evenson is represented by Richard Tompkins and will face a jury trial on October 21. Porter has a public defender and will face a jury trial on November 18.
