Michigan man arrested in Charles City

CHARLES CITY – There was more trouble in recent days at a beleaguered apartment complex in Charles City, and a Michigan man was arrested.

Charles City police responded to the 2100 block of Clark Street, home to the Morningside Apartments, a number of times late last week.  People were reported to be throwing rocks at cars, fighting, domestic incidents and police were called there for other investigations.  One person called police after a group of kids were outside the apartments “wrestling and fighting using padded gloves”.

On August 18, police responded to a person who called 911 to have a person removed from an apartment who refused to leave and was not wanted there.  Police discovered Thomas Burnis, age 49, and arrested him for trespassing.  Buris was also wanted in Cherokee county on a warrant related to another crime.  He was taken to Floyd county jail and subsequently transferred to Cherokee county.

This is the second article that brings to light the problems of the Clark Street apartment complex. I live in CC and I wonder why the Charles City Press has ignored it for so long. It’s like the proverbial “elephant in the room” in this town.

@Anonymous-The same reason the GLOB and local T.V. ignore it in Mason City. The elietes tell them to so the rest of us won’t find out what sh## holes are towns are becoming under their rule.

Who owns that apartment complex?
