Dean Huse, 70, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota following a brief battle with esophageal cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Dean was born on February 9, 1956, in Charles City, Iowa, to Willard Huse and Elma (Hawks) Huse. He attended Mason City High School and graduated with the Class of 1974.
Dean spent much of his life working in construction throughout North Iowa, including with Clear Lake Water Tower Paint and Repair. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his trade.
Later, Dean moved to Houston, Texas, where he continued his career in construction. He was especially proud of his work as a crane rigger during the construction of Reliant Stadium in Houston. After 25 years in Houston, Dean retired and returned to Mason City.
In his free time, Dean enjoyed fishing and attending races at the I-35 Speedway. He will be remembered for his giving nature and his willingness to help others whenever they were in need. Dean loved spending time with friends and always looked forward to visiting and sharing stories.
Dean is survived by his daughter, Jamie Huse of Houston; siblings, Pam (Skip) Hildebrand and Terry Zieman, both of Mason City; half-brothers, Bill and Bob Huse; and nephews, Jeremy Hildebrand, Josh Zieman, and Jake Zieman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Huse and Elma Zieman; grandparents, William and Martha Huse and Frank and Gladys Hawks; and his special aunt and uncle, LaVona and George Bartlett.
