Michael James Low passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026 surrounded by his family at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
He was born on January 20, 1946 to Lloyd Low and Ann (Casey) Low in Osage, IA. He was a 1964 graduate of Osage High School, a 1966 graduate of Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis, MN with an offset printing degree.
His employment included – Flynn Publishing Co., Rochester, MN, Control – O – Fax, Waterloo, IA and was transferred to Stone Mountain, GA in 1968, he returned to Mason City in the spring of 1975 as an employed laborer with Henkel Construction Co and was proud to say he helped build the West Campus of Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.
1978 found him working as an Offset Pressman with the Printing Office in Thornton, IA. 1984-1994 he was a salesman for Klipto Printing and Office Supply, and then owner in Mason City. From 1995-2015 he was a salesman for Larson Printing Company before his retirement after 50 years in the printing business. He enjoyed working with all his customers.
Michael is a 50 year plus member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degrees. As well as a former member of Morning Kiwanis for several years.
On June 8, 1968 he married the love of his life, Helen Flynn Low at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City. After both surviving some health scares, they enjoyed nearly 58 years together.
They were blessed with two children, Michele Anne Boone (Tom), born 12/5/1969 and Christopher Lloyd Low (Beth), born 9/26/1974.
He greatly enjoyed his two granddaughters, Casey and Lauren, who arrived late in his life.
Mike was a loyal Iowa Hawkeyes fan and supporter of Newman Catholic baseball. Until he got sick, he attended every home baseball game at Newman. He also enjoyed morning coffee at Hardees and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; children, Michele (Tom) Boone of Mason City and Christopher (Beth) Low of Des Moines; granddaughters, Casey Louise and Lauren Grace Low.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Craig.
There will be a family memorial service followed by a Celebration of Life to be announced at a future date.
We invite all his friends and past business associates and customers to his celebration, to be held at the Columbia Club (K of C). Please wear your Iowa Hawkeye or Newman Knight gear – even Iowa State friends are welcome!
In honor of Michael and his love for the Newman Baseball Program, the family suggests memorial donations be directed to the program.
