FAYETTE, IOWA – This Northern Iowa woman is accused of some bad swerves as she allegedly nearly smashed into a deputy’s patrol car, leading to her arrest.

On December 27, 2025, at approximately 6:18 PM, a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado nearly struck a Fayette County Deputy’s Patrol vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 150 N and W Water St. in Fayette, Iowa.

An investigation was conducted and subsequently, 47-year-old Nancy Lynn Harkin of Arlington, Iowa, was placed under arrest for a Operating While under the Influence 1st Offense, a serious misdemeanor. She was also chaged with operating a non-registered vehicle and no insurance.

Harkin was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was held for her initial appearance. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this incident by the Fayette Police Department.
