Danny Billings, 80, of Mason City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center.
A Funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, December 22, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with Rev. Dan Geriettes officiating. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 21, from 2 pm until 4 pm at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Dan’s honor to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Danny Leroy Billings was born on July 5, 1945, the son of Willis and Marjorie (Krueger) Billings. He grew up in Nora Springs, one of ten children, where he attended school and graduated from Nora Springs High School.
Dan married Jane Hefty on July 19, 1975 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, and together they shared a life devoted to family, faith, and community. In July of this year they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
For 33 years, along with his business partner, he ran Mason City Lumber, where he was known as a dedicated and dependable face to many. Dan retired in 2006 after a long and respected career.
A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Dan was actively involved in church life and volunteered his time whenever he could. Together he and Jane were instrumental in the church’s Mission Jamaica project and made six trips with the church to serve the community, their final trip being 2014.
He was also a proud member of the Loyal Order of Moose. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and fishing, activities that brought him both relaxation and camaraderie. He cherished time spent with his family and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dan will be remembered for his quiet and gentle nature. He was a man of few words but always had something of value to contribute.
Those grateful for sharing in his life include his beloved wife, Jane; children, Daryn (Tamara) Billings, Danean Schulze, and Julie Draper; grandchildren, Nathanial Billings, Jay Schulze (Mariela Ramirez), Hailey (Matthew) Brown, Kylie Draper (Jason Holzer), and Cody Draper (Alyssa Waage); great grandchildren, Neko and Kato Harris and Adaline Brown; siblings, Joan Bennett, Janet Gordon, Ron (Dawn) Billings, Linda (Tom Green) Billings, Larry (Cyndi) Billings, Barb Johanns (fiancé, Scott Hietland) and Kim Billings (Lynn); brother in law, John Eiland; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean Eiland and Judy Billings; son in law, Mike Draper; in laws, “Ben” Bennett, Duane Gordon, and Tami Billings.
